Landfill Cap Installation Steps

When a landfill cell is full, we must secure its contents to avoid trash migration or liquid runoff. A temporary HDPE cap is installed over the compacted landfill contents. After that, a layer of turf or grass will be placed on top of the liner as a permanent cover. Even after the cap is installed, groundwater is monitored, and methane gas is captured and converted into fuel and energy. The closed cell must be approved by regulators and will be monitored for safety for 30 years. In our slideshow below, you can view the process of the landfill cap installation.
